Crowded streets, polluted roads, smelly canals..ahhh.. must be Bangkok!

Finally found a nice aircon internet cafe!

Landed in Bangkok after a mega long journey on two different planes! Loads of good food on the plane so that was ok! Even tried McD's at Dubai airport!!

So my first impressions of Bangkok... Its kinda similar to Hong Kong - but more smelly, crowded and very polluted! I actually didn't feel like I was in Thailand, til I jumped onto the express boat along the brown murky Chao Phraya river. From here, you can see, what sets Bangkok apart from the other SE Asian cities - the beautiful and esquisite looking temples peeping out the top of the tall office and apartment blocks. Highly recommended way to see Bangkok in its glory!

Some of the things i've done so far:

Went to the infamous Khao San Road yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how much i actually liked the place! I was expecting it to be totally westernised (as some people have told me), with McD's, Starbucks and all.. but theres still a good level of Thai authenticity to it. Its really laid-back and friendly - its filled with travellers chatting and laughing along with the locals, some really appealing food stalls, restaurants and guesthouses. Not bad at all!

Finally tried a traditional Thai massage - one word: PAINFUL!! Apparently having some woman almost breaking all your bones is good for you?? At some points it hurt so much that I couldn't help but laugh out loud!

Thai food - the best thing about Bangkok so far is the FOOD!! Its so damn cheap and the food is pretty good, but haven't tried anything amazing yet...still looking for the "holy grail" of all Thai curries! I'll just have to keep eating more often til I find it!

We've booked our next destination - Koh Tao -for a spot of diving and chilling on the beach... ahhh... nice life!

Hahaha! I enjoyed my Thai massage... maybe we try the foot massage when I get there?!

Good thing I'm coming then eh? You get to try more food!

I hope you've booked a cookery course... Quite happy for you to cook for me :)

Lazy ham. You should try taking a diving course. Diving is amazing. Where are you planning to go next? Don't go to Philippines or Indonesia as it is really dangerous there. Food and the place is skank there as well. Thai food and the Thai islands are amazing. You should go to Koh Samui or Phuket. I returned your mp3 player to the shop as Kim said you didn't like music. I'll give you your birthday present in HK then. You should also visit Beijing and the rest of China on your way over here to HK.
